                                                    SUPER SOFT WRAP
                                                                   Designer: Roberta Houston

One size fits all but if you would like the wrap to be longer with the pockets further down, follow the instructions in italics.

Size 10.5 needles
Size 10.5 double pointed needles because I had them, but could do without. I needed them for the lining of the second pocket -
Use two strands at a time
Uses 4 skeins of Alapaca/Angora/Wool Yarn (available exclusively at Angora Cottage).

To Find Guage: Cast on 20 stithes and k on right side, p on wrong side for 30 rows. Swatch should measure 5"X5".
Guage= 4 stitches per inch

Length: 60 inches
Width: at widest part - 24 inches

First, knit a pocket lining 20 stitches wide by 20 rows long - stockenette stitch. Place on holder.

Cast on 50 stitches. Knit each row (garter stitch) for 7 rows. On front of garment now, continue the garter stitch on first 6 stitches and last 6 stitches of each row. I put a marker after first 6 stitches and last 6 stitches to remind myself. Knit in stockinette stitch for 36 rows. Next row if front side: Garter for 6 stitches, knit 9 stitches, garter for 20 stitches, knit for 9 stitches, garter for 6 stitches. That still equals 50 stitches.

These 20 stitches will be the garter stitch edge for the pocket face - garter stitch that for 6 rows, continuing the 6 st., 9 st., 20 st, 9 st., 6 stitch pattern.

Beginning of next row.....6 garter stitches, 9 knit stitches, cast off 20 garter stitches, attach the pocket lining where the garter stitches had been for inside of pocket, then finish row. Continue with original 6 garter, 38 stockinette stitch 6 garter for another 16 rows (add more rows here if you want a longer wrap, we suggest 48 rows instead of 16). Then, with right side facing towards you, begin the increase for rounded shawl. 6 garter, 38 stockinette stitches....increase one in last st.st. and then 6 garter. Do not increase on purl side. Continue increasing on knitted side 41 more times. The garment will be approx. 30 inches long at this point.

Now, begin the decrease.....with right side facing, 6 garter stitches, knit to last two stockinette stitches, knit those together and then 6 garter stitches. Do not decrease on purl rows. Do this 41 more times.

Now, back to 50 stitches on the needle. Knit in pattern for 16 rows (add more rows here if you want a longer wrap, we suggest 48 rows instead of 16).

Garter stitch 6 stitches......then knit 9....then, knit 20 stitches....now, I put just those twenty stitches on double pointed needles and do stockinette stitch for 20 rows for the inside of the pocket. Bind off. Attach yarn at the beginning of the 9 stitch section and finish row. Coming back (on purl side) garter for 6 st., purl for 9, cast on 20 stitches, finish that row. Those twenty stitches just cast on in the middle of the row will be the top of the pocket.

Do the garter stitch for those 20 stitches in the middle to match the first pocket - that would be 6 rows of garter stitches. Then, finish in regular pattern - 6 garter, 38 st.st., 6 garter for 36 rows. Final rows are garter stitches all the way across....garter stitch to match the beginning...7 rows. Bind off.

Sew the insides of the pockets to the garment. Weave in the loose ends.
